New Hampshire's DWI Book
Last month I released New Hampshire DWI Defense, a 272-page manual that instructs attorneys on how to manage
New Hampshire DWI cases. The book covers very important DWI topics, including the process for being arrested and convicted. I believe it's extremely important that residents have their rights protected, and I am honored to share my knowledge about DWI Defense with other attorneys. More information about this book is available on my website, Russman Law Offices.

By the way, I am hopeful you are finding our new website both informative and useful. As always, please send me feedback with topics of interest, or general questions for future newsletter issues.

Avoiding Arrest, Part 1: Don't Pull Over if Not Prompted
People often get extremely nervous when they see an officer and sometimes their first instinct is to pull over, even without being required to do so.

Resist the urge to pull over. Just do not do it.

You are completely within your rights as a citizen to continue driving (making sure you are obeying the rules of the road and thereby not giving the officer any reason to pull you over) to your destination unless the officer flashes his lights or motions for you to pull over. As always, make sure you are obeying the rules of the road and thereby not giving the officer any reason to pull you over.

What is Domestic Violence and How Prevalent is it?
In a clear case of domestic violence in New Hampshire last year, a man strangled his wife, rendering her almost unconscious. She went to the hospital and her husband went to jail.

Released quickly on a $30 – yes, only $30 — bond, and defying a protection order, he waited until his wife was out of the hospital, then shot and killed her when she went home to gather some things.

How could this have happened? Why was the bond so low? The answer is that under New Hampshire law, non-fatal strangulation is a crime of simple assault, punishable only as a misdemeanor.

NH Personal Injury Basics: Defining Personal Injury, Claims and Settlements
What legally differentiates a personal injury from other physical injuries, such as carelessly cutting your own finger? In legal terms, a so-called personal injury results from someone else’s negligence – someone not acting in a responsible manner.

New Hampshire law states that in the event of a personal injury, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses (past, present and future), lost time at work, any permanent disfigurement or disability, and more.

So how do you begin your pursuit of fair and just compensation?
