A Nomination of Guardian permits you to nominate a trusted person to act as your Guardian should you need one due to becoming incompetent.  More importantly, you can also specifically exclude certain individuals from serving in this role.  While a Guardian must still be approved by the Probate Court to serve, the appointment of a Guardian makes the process much easier to accomplish as the Court will generally honor your wishes.
